Millennials Leading the Change
In an article done by Forbes Magazine, Fiona Dyer, Consumer Analyst at GlobalData, comments: ‘The shift toward plant-based foods is being driven by millennials, who are most likely to consider the food source, animal welfare issues, and environmental impacts when making their purchasing decisions.’
To drive this point home, veganism in the states has grown over 600% in just the last three years, and veganism was a top search trend in Canada in 2017. As you’ve probably heard, Canada’s new Food Guide that was released last year is also favouring plant-based foods.

Plant-Based Celebrity Culture
Another driver for plant-based movement are a growing list of celebrities and athletes who are advocating for veganism. Here are just a few on that list:
Kendrick Farris, a male weightlifter who competed in the Rio Olympics
Tennis star Venus Williams
Zac Efron, who recently said the veganism is “brilliant”
Patrik Baboumian, an Armenian-German strongman and former bodybuilder
Heather Mills, a skier and amputee, who holds multiple world records and gold medals
Megan Markle, who says she sticks to a mostly plant-based diet during the week
