How to Make This Recipe

Next time you use pomegranate seeds, separate the peel and rind from the fruit and set it aside.

The next step is to dry it. You can either dehydrate it naturally on a sunny window sill for 2-3 days, or dry it in the oven at the lowest setting for 2-3 hours.

Add the dried peel to a high speed blender, and process until a powder is formed. Store the powder in an air tight container in your pantry for up to one month.

Ingredients

  • 3 pomegranate peels

Equipment

  • High speed blender or coffee grinder

Instructions

  • Separate the peel and rind from the fruit. Wash thoroughly. Dehydrate by a warm window for 2 to 3 days, or alternatively place in your oven at the lowest temperature for 2 to 3 hours, until the pomegranate peel is dried.
  • Transfer the peel to a high speed blender, and combine until a powder is formed. Store the powder in an air tight container in your pantry for up to one month.
  • To make pomegranate peel tea, add a coffee filter to a pour over coffee maker or tea kettle. Pour hot water over top and allow to steep for five minutes. Enjoy immediately. To make a body exfoliant or face mask, simply dilute the powder with 1 to 2 tablespoons of water to create a paste, and use how you would a regular exfoliant (on your body, as it is too grainy for your face). Spot test on your hand before using to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction.
